What do we know about the movie “Ashes”?
Thompson will play a woman who wakes up on a distant planet and discovers that the rest of the space station crew has been brutally murdered. When a man (Gordon-Levitt) sent to rescue her arrives, she must decide if she can truly trust him. In turn, a man trying to find out what happened on the space station will begin to doubt whether the woman is really as innocent as she seems…
Behind the camera will be rapper Flying Lotus, who will also prepare the music. Johnny Reimler wrote the script. Among the producers is Neil Blomkamp himself.
Pictures are planned for next year. It will be built in New Zealand.
Who is Flying Lotus?
“Ashes” directed by Stephen Ellison, better known as Flying Lotus. The 38-year-old is a Los Angeles-based rapper, DJ, and music producer. He comes from a musical family and started his career as a trainee at the hip-hop publishing house Stones Throw Records. There he released his first album “1983” in 2006. To date, the artist has recorded seven albums. The latter – the soundtrack to the anime series “Yasuke”, co-written by Flying Lotus – dates back to 2021.
“Ashes” isn’t the rapper’s first full-length movie. His debut was “Kuso”, which premiered at Sundance Festival 2017. You can watch the trailer below:
