NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) captured an image of a “mysterious” object that was moving near the Moon at a speed of more than 3.2 kilometers per second. Capturing it was not the easiest task, but the LRO probe completed it flawlessly. Thanks to the image, NASA was able to confirm what the rectangular object that resembles 'Oumuamua is.

The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) has been orbiting the Moon for 15 years. The probe's mission is to map the surface of the Silver Globe, identify potential landing sites, and search for objects of interest. A photo of one of them was taken last month. As NASA explains, between March 5 and 6, 2024, the LRO spacecraft and the Korea Aerospace Research Institute's Danori Lunar Orbiter, traveling in parallel orbits, passed by the Moon.

NASA took a closer look at the “mysterious” object.

“Given the high relative velocities between the two spacecraft (about 7,200 miles, or 11,500 kilometers per hour), the LRO operations team at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, needed perfect timing to guide the LROC to the correct location in the space,” NASA said in a press release. “This is a good time to take a look at Danori, the Republic of Korea's first spacecraft on the moon.”

Using the narrow-angle camera that is part of the spacecraft's camera array, known as LROC, she was able to capture a photo of Danori. It is South Korea's first lunar orbiter to be launched into space in 2022. It carries scientific payloads and technology demonstrations. Danori's goal is to explore the Moon's resources, including uranium, silicon, and aluminium. The device will also map the Silver Globe to help choose the best place for future landings.

NASA explained that due to the high speeds of the LRO probe and the Danori orbiter, the latter appears 10 times larger and is not clear in the captured image. Thus its appearance can stimulate the imagination of those seeking a sense of space. Especially since the photo published by NASA Danori somewhat resembles Oumuamua, an unidentified rectangular object that flew through the solar system in 2017. The appearance of this interstellar traveler has caused a lot of emotions, also among theorists of theories that assume a visit to the planet. Alien spacecraft.
