The Christmas finale isn't everything. In keeping with legend, something like this hasn't happened in years

Iga Świątek has already written her name in the history of women's tennis. In fact, every tournament the Pole adds another small record to her extensive list of achievements, which the tennis world will remember for a long time. One of the most famous of these events, of course, is what happened in the 2022 tournament season. At that time, the eyes of the entire tennis community were focused on Szwitecek, who, in her first days as rankings leader, had already made history.

Iga Świątek with another record

Of course we are talking about a streak that lasted as many as 37 matches. The Polish woman then won all the matches she played, and in the meantime she won her beloved Roland Garros title. Świątek is also the youngest player to win the Sunshine Double, a tournament in Miami and Indian Wells. This speaks for itself. So it is not surprising that the Polish woman's name often appears next to true tennis legends.

Another opportunity for Świątek to compete with the greats of the sport again is this year's WTA 1000 tournament in Qatar. The Polish woman actually reached the final there, although she did not even have to play the semi-final match. Karolina Pliskova, who was unable to play due to back pain, forfeited the match. This will be the third consecutive final of this event for the pole. As of 2022, she has never been eliminated before the last match.

Your lips can beat Serena Williams

Thus, Shevetek equaled Serena Williams' achievement. Since 2017 and the Australian Open, there has not been a tennis player who has qualified for three WTA finals on hard surfaces. The American then won two of these finals, and in 2016 she had to accept the superiority of Angelique Kerber. The Pole will have a chance to beat the achievement of the legendary American tennis player.

Światek won the championship in Qatar in 2022 and 2023. First, she defeated Anett Kontaveit in the final, then Jessica Pegula. In both finals she gave her opponents a total of five games. On Saturday, February 17, the Pole will be able to win the 1000th ranking event again in her career. Her opponent this time will be Elena Rybakina, with whom she has an unfavorable record in fights. This match is at 4:00 pm, live text coverage on Sport.Interia.pl.
