Disturbing news from England. They don’t want Legia Warsaw fans
On Friday, November 10, worrying information appeared in the media regarding Legia’s upcoming match in the Europa League. The Poles will go to Birmingham to play Aston Villa. It turns out that the English want to limit tickets for fans of the capital team.
Originally, Legia were scheduled to receive 3,000 tickets, equivalent to the number of tickets allocated to the guest section at Villa Park. But now it turns out that the English only want to provide 1,700 tickets. A statement on this matter has already been published by Perpetrators Anonymous, a group of army supporters.
“This is the second recent manifestation of racism after the situation in Alkmaar,” the statement read. In addition, Niznani Sebrawi stated that they are once again being treated as “second-class citizens.” At the same time, they announced that no matter how many tickets Legia get, there will be approximately 3,000 fans in front of the stadium in Birmingham who will do everything to watch the match with Aston Villa from the visitors’ sector.
Let us remember that the scandalous situations occurred before and after the match against AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands in the second round of the group stage of the European Conference League. Firstly, the Poles were not welcomed in the city by the mayor Anya Schouten, and later the police attacked the players, staff and the Legia authorities when they wanted to leave the stadium. The capital team’s players, Radovan Bankov and Gozoi, were detained and had to spend the night in custody.
Legia will not play in the Europa Conference League in England until after the international break. The match against Aston Villa will be held on Thursday, November 30, at 9 pm. Coverage of this match will be available on the Przegląd Sportowy Onet website.
Statement by the “unknown perpetrators”:
For some time now we have been watching the behavior of the English club with astonishment. The club is trying hard to ensure that as few Polish fans as possible will watch the match live in the stadium. We consider combinations, failure to adhere to the previously given word, or even the agreement signed between our clubs regarding the number of tickets we will receive, unacceptable and scandalous.
Once again, Legia fans are treated like second-class citizens. Clubs that talk a lot about equality and other similar ideas show once again that these are just empty words and marketing hype.
We do not agree to be treated this way. Therefore, we would like to inform you of a few things.
We are not asking for anything unusual, just the number of tickets corresponding to the nominal capacity of the sectors usually reserved for visiting fans at the AV Stadium;
As fans, we don’t have the physical ability to stop people who have already bought plane tickets, paid for hotels, and spent their hard-earned money on traveling to England;
We emphasize once again: this is the second manifestation of racism in recent times, after the situation in Alkmaar, where Poles are treated as second-class citizens. We are blackmailed with the possibility of the entire group being kept in an unspecified location and not being able to enter the match;
We estimate our number at more than 3,000. With this number we will appear at the stadium in Birmingham and of course we will do our best to watch the match together from the visiting sector and once again create the amazing atmosphere for which we are known.
