The world-famous US government agency responsible for the National Space Flight Program – NASA, selects the best photos of celestial objects daily via social media, which it subsequently publishes. Recently, a photo of the Moon taken by a 17-year-old high school student from Grodziske Mazowiecki was published on the profile APOD – Astronomy Photo of the Day. His work was recognized by the space agency on February 13.

As stated in the publication, this image is striking because the clouds surrounding the moon resemble the jaws of a wolf preparing to swallow the Earth’s natural moon, while others see the moon in the image as a wolf’s eye. The author himself wrote that this is a “dream of excellence” for anyone involved in astrophotography.

“It is amazing for me, because this distinction has been my dream ever since I became interested in astrophotography, and it was achieved very quickly.” – he explains in an interview with TVN24. He is a 17-year-old high school student in Warsaw, passionate about science, astronomy and space engineering. In the future, he also wants to become an aerospace engineer.

He explained that he is doing everything in his power to achieve his goal. When asked where his interest came from, he answered without hesitation, “It's simply amazing!” Antoni Zegarski is involved in projects to spread knowledge about space and works at the astronomical observatory in his hometown of Grodzisk Mazowiecki.
