He directed the film Bradley Cooper. He also played the main role in it. He is his on-screen partner Carey Mulligan.
In an interview with RadioTimes.com, Leonard Bernstein’s daughters revealed that they “really liked the changes that Bradley Cooper made to the original idea of the artist’s biography.” Initially, the film was intended to be a simpler story about the life of the legendary composer and conductor, but when Cooper joined the project as actor and director, it focused on Bernstein’s relationship with his wife, Felicia Montealegre (played by Mulligan).
Jamie and Nina Bernstein revealed how the adaptation made the film a “more personal” project. “When Bradley joined the film, he completely changed the concept and turned it into a picture of a couple,” Jamie explained, adding: “And that was really nice for us, the siblings, because it made the film more personal and unusual.” “Nothing can be predicted,” we read.
“We immediately liked his style,” Nina added. “We saw that he wanted to go into detail.” […] “He was interested in authenticity and truth.”
