The Polish national team competes in the Qatar World Cup in Group C. Our national team could have won, but Robert Lewandowski missed the penalty. There was a sensation in the second match. ArgentinaWhich was considered one of the favorites for gold, lost to Saudi Arabia 1: 2.
The second round of the “Polish” group took place on Saturday. First, the Poles played, for whom Saudi Arabia was a competitor. After goals by Piotr Zieliński and Robert Lewandowski, Biało-Czerwoni won 2:0. In a very important match for the group’s fate, Argentina faced Mexico and also won 2-0.
Currently, our group schedule looks like this:
In the event that the number of points in the group is equal, the standings are determined by goal difference in the entire group stage. Then the number of goals scored, the head-to-head match, the goal difference between the teams involved and finally the order of fair play are taken into account. If this has not yet been determined, a lottery is held.
The third round is ahead, and in it everything will be decided. Poland will face Argentina, and Mexico will compete with Saudi Arabia. Our national team has everything in its hands, because a victory over Argentina will give us promotion without looking at the results of our competitors. It will be the same with a tie. Interestingly, promotion is also possible with defeat in the third match. Then there is the scenario where fewer cards or even draws may decide on the upgrade.
Remember, however, that the game is not just about getting out of the group, but also about positioning. If we win the group, we will probably meet better than Denmark and Australia. Leaving second place means our next challenger will probably be France.
The last alternative is possible with our defeat against Argentina and a draw if Saudi Arabia wins with Mexico. The remaining draw forms and the victory over Argentina gives us victory in the group. Interestingly, we no longer had a chance to finish fourth in our group. Below we present all possible variants:
