– The two best teams in Poland certainly play, and the best referee does not judge. This situation is incomprehensible to me, but the decision has already been made. I think that Judge Lasik will manage with his team and will not give in to pressure, because lately he has seemed mediocre. He is a good referee and I think that in this decisive match he will rise to the occasion and will be a silent hero, and after the match there will be no talk of refereeing – this is exactly what Papszun said about Lasyk at the pre-match press conference. Some people were also surprised that the meeting of the Silesian Provincial Team (Raków) was led by a judge from Bytom.
He couldn’t
Unfortunately, Papszun turned out to be right, probably not expecting that the atmosphere at the beginning of the match, due to Lasyk’s misbehavior, would be so tense. After all, at some point, staff and reserves from both teams nearly jumped each other’s throats. One of Legia’s coaches made gestures towards the opponents, as if he wanted to “meet in the tunnel” with one person from Raków. The most important things first.
I agree with Papsun. I believe that the national cup final, in addition to facing the two best teams in the country, which is not always the norm in our country, should be judged by the best referee who also has authority among the players. Lasik, I have the impression, in both categories he is not among the best players, although he has been playing better lately. In the previous league meeting between these two teams, Legia won 3:1, it was a good performance. But at the National, it didn’t work out at all.
Jose’s provocation
Everyone in the stands probably saw that Legia defender Youri Ribeiro illegally stopped Fran Tudor, who was on his way to a clean sheet. Replays show that the Croat added a little of himself, but the violation of the rules by the Legia footballer was obvious. What did LASIK do? At first he left the match, then suddenly decided to stop it and showed Ribeiro the red card only after analyzing the video assistant referee. That was his problem for the next few minutes – oddly leaving the game a few times, or interrupting it when someone came out with a dangerous act.
Already in the first minutes, after Ribeiro’s mistake, the benches boiled. On the field, the players of Raku provoked the most dangerous rival, Josue, who was not indebted to them and received a yellow card. more minutes? A mistake on Josue and again a nervousness. Filip Mladenovic falls, but referee Lasek does not see the error and takes out Raku with a dangerous action. There were constant provocations on the benches. At one point, due to Lasyk’s chaotic and nervous work, people from both clubs almost jumped onto each other’s throats. The final, which took place in Warsaw, at times began to resemble matches known in South America.
It’s not like Marciniac
Whistle for a break? Another rampage, this time at the entrance to the tunnel. The security guards, who may have been afraid that players or staff might attack each other, told the people from Legia to wait until their opponents entered the tunnel. A constant nervous atmosphere threatening to explode covers the match itself. Can you imagine Szymon Marciniak would lead to something similar? A man, who led the World Cup final, tough and full of situations that required bold decisions, made him appreciated by “difficult to lead” players, like Rodrigo de Paul?
Lasik, as you can see, is not such a good referee, and he does not enjoy such respect among the players, because, especially in the first half, they argued with him and undermined his decisions. Mladenovic at the end of regulation time gave his gestures with great force to understand what he thinks about the referee’s work. A few minutes pass: Lasyk is running out of regulation time, and it’s clear that overtime is about to happen. Josue first runs furiously to the assistant referee, then “talks” to Lasyk in a similar tone. He must be reassured first by a member of staff and then by Artur Jedrzejczyk.
Siren and fan
The match between Legia and Raków was a spectacle for the fans. With loud, positive cheering, a small amount of profanity exchanged. A true celebration of football. Just before the match, Legia fans presented a great atmosphere with a large image of a siren and the inscription “Warsaw loves winners”. Ráków fans responded with a more modest banner depicting a supporter of their club. There were flares and loud cheers from both sides, even though Legia won in the stands. It was also, for the final of these games, quite cultural. “Your team is losing today, isn’t it?” – Raku fans who were heading to the stadium were assaulted, albeit with majesty, by police officers working for the match.
The coaches of both teams were also fun to watch. corps? The team is led by Kosta Ranjić. crayfish? On the touchline, Papszun pays attention to the players, but Dawid Szwarga is equally active in the long pieces, who will replace him from the new season. After Ribeiro’s red card, it was he who directed his players to the head with a characteristic gesture, which means that now, although they are playing in the lead, their mental attitude will be decisive. Before extra time began, a board was made on Rakow’s bench and Papszun showed something at his players for several minutes. At Legion camp, feedback was only verbal.
It is a pity that during and after the game not only the game itself was talked about, and Babzon’s words turned out to be prophetic in some way.
