According to the latest reports, Apple has changed its plans for its future by 180 degrees. Not necessarily of my own free will.
It has been said for many years that Apple has been working hard on advanced augmented reality glasses. It is assumed that a device capable of displaying any objects directly in front of the user’s eyes will completely replace the iPhone.
According to reliable reports, the glasses should have been ready in 2020, but – as we know – the expected premiere did not take place. In light of the recent leaks, it is not known if it will ever happen.

Apple’s plans turned out to be very ambitious. The company is unable to make the coveted augmented reality glasses
“Apple’s dream of delivering a lightweight pair of augmented reality glasses that people can wear all day has been delayed for many years. If it ever materializes” – reports Mark Gorman of Bloomberg, who is usually well versed in the company’s internal situation.
Previously, plans for the release of a new device were to be moved from 2020 to 2023, and then to 2025. According to Gorman, the project was postponed indefinitely and work on the glasses was significantly reduced. Currently, many small teams are just dedicated to researching technologies that can be used in the future.
a reason? Apple was supposed to face problems of a technological nature. “Making a lightweight device with advanced augmented reality and a built-in battery that lasts all day is not possible with current technology,” Gorman notes.
It seems that the creators of the iPhone have given up hope that in the foreseeable future they will be able to develop appropriate chips, batteries and software, and at the same time they will be able to mass-produce a new device.
It didn’t work out with augmentation, so Apple is taking on mixed reality
It is almost certain that in the next few months the giant from Cupertino will present its own mixed reality glasses, which will be in direct competition with the products of Oculus or HTC Vive. Patent applications show that its name is Apple Reality Pro.
The hardware is very advanced and uses HD displays, over 10 cameras and the powerful M2 chip known from Mac computers. The price will be around 3,000 USD, which – given the currency conversion rate used in other products – would give us roughly 17,000 PLN.
Gurman claims that — due to the need to delay plans for the glasses — Apple decided to develop a cheaper version of the protective glasses that could reach the public. Using lower-grade components would allow the price to be cut in half, but the device is not expected to be ready until 2024 or early 2025.
