After a four-year absence due to the pandemic and a change of guard, this function of France returns to a new presentation in Quebec. It is the tenth since its local birth in 2011.
“I have a fever!” In an interview he introduced Yann Latouche, president of EvenTouch and new promoter of Dîner en blanc in the provincial capital. the sun A few hours ago. “There’s a fair amount of responsibility in taking on such a big hit, especially with former producer Andre Auger coming this evening. We want to honor him with that.
As of Thursday, August 22, 2024, 6:15 p.m., the guests’ disembarkation address has been kept confidential. They were taken there by chartered buses that took them from seven departure points scattered around the city.
From 7pm to 8:30pm, dinner was served whether participants brought their own or were allocated by catering. Later, the festivities included dance, fashion show, cuisine etc.
Menu prepared by Arnaud Marchand’s team
This year, the custom menu was created by the chefs of the three addresses of the “big family of Arnaud Marchand and Jean-Luc Boulay restaurants”: Les Botanistes (chef Emmeline Perot), Chez Boulay (chefs Olivier Langlois and Arnaud Marchand), Le Bedo (chef Pierre Gagnon).
“For the food boxes, we had the highest percentage of orders from registrants in the history of the event in Quebec,” said Mr. Latouche pointed out. A lot of people fell in love with what Arnaud and his team had to offer. Yes, most people bring their own tourism – that’s the policy – but many choose to discover the beautiful Quebec gastronomy.
On the menu for these buffets: foie gras parfait, confit salmon and duck breast with Boreal notes. A “gourmet box” for $110 and an $85 version were available for pre-order for those interested.
Chef Marchant and his colleagues promised to be on site to participate in the food distribution.
In a new place
Over the years, Diner en Blanc has made its nest – temporarily – in several locations in the Quebec region. We particularly remember the garden of Jean-Paul-l’Allier in the Saint-Roch district, the lawns of the Palais de Station, the Manoir Montmorency, the Tourney fountain, and the pocket quay at Lévis.
This time, it is promised to take the guests to an “unprecedented” place that none of the previous editions have gone before. In fact, Diner en Blanc de Quebec is located in the heart of the Exposite, right on Place Jean-Bellevue.
“In the middle of the square! The entire platform between the sculpture, the Grand Marche and the Videotron Center will be completely filled with people and white tables. Setup Everyone will be together and comfortable there,” noted Mr. Ladoch.
“Besides making a beautiful postcard for Quebec, it will be truly charming as these images will travel widely in the larger global community of Dîners en blanc.”
— Yann Latouche, promoter of Dîner en blanc
A large light panel in the Videotron center was used to create the atmosphere, we promise. Instead of regular commercials, an “atmospheric” visual presentation aired a film highlighting the 10th anniversary of the operation.
“We were loved by the people at Exposite who believed in the project. Within 48 hours, we had a deal! As an event promoter, I see it as a tour,” Mr. Latouche pointed out.
Where to go next year?
The collaboration between EvenTouch and Dîner en blanc International is meant to be a long-lasting one, and we are already promising to come back next year to repeat the experience. Where, one asks, since activity always changes its goals?
“This year, we took over the management of the event with less than two months’ notice. We are very happy to have found such an interesting and suitable venue, which allows us to control the incredible. Next year, we will definitely want to change to something new and exciting. Funny!” imagined Yann Latouche.
