Vladimir Putin has not officially confirmed whether he intends to run in next year’s elections at all. At the same time, the Russian media “Kommersant” confirmed that Putin is counting on his re-election, citing sources close to the current president.

The presidential elections themselves will take place on March 17, 2024. This date will be officially confirmed in December 2023 by the Russian Federation Council. Vladimir Putin himself participated and won in 2000, 2004, 2012 and 2018, which in 2012 extended the term of the head of state from 4 to 6 years.
Even before 2020, the law prevented Vladimir Putin from running in the next elections. However, the Russian president was guaranteed the opportunity to present his candidacy as a result of the adoption of special constitutional amendments by the government.
