Justyna Kowalczyk-Tekeli is undoubtedly one of the Polish icons Winter sports. During her career, she won gold medals at the Olympic Games twice, and also received 4 Crystal Globes for winning the overall classification of the World Cup.
After her professional career ended, the outstanding runner remained active. In 2020, she married alpine climber Kasper Tekele, with whom she developed a passion for hiking and mountaineering. The man died on May 17, 2023. While descending from the Jungfrau Mountain, an avalanche occurred and carried the Polish mountaineer away. At her husband's funeral, Justina Kowalczyk promised Tekeli that she would continue to develop their mutual feelings.
The two-time Olympic champion keeps her word, which she often proves via Instagram. On Wednesday (02/08), she posted a photo showing her climbing ice. The 41-year-old climbs the ice wall using a rope. When taking the photo, Kowalczyk-Tekele turns her face toward the camera. However, as the post description indicates, this is not the former ski runner's favorite activity.
It can be assumed that her attempts at ice climbing are a form of tribute to her deceased husband. Kacper Tekieli was a big fan of this discipline and loved ice climbing.
Photos taken during mountain expeditions and mountaineering show that Justyna Kowalczyk-Tekele is still in good condition. This is also confirmed by the recent victory of the Olympic champion in her debut in a new field – ski mountaineering. Kowalczyk-Tekeli has been victorious in amateur competitions and as a former triathlete.
