Russia is intensifying its efforts in Africa to gain the support of local governments. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov went to Africa.
The second stop on Lavrov’s African tour was the Republic of the Congo. During a press conference with Jean-Claude Jacosso, Foreign Minister of the Republic of the Congo, Lavrov stated that French trainers are already on Ukrainian territory.
Lavrov said that regardless of their status, as military personnel or mercenaries, they constitute legal targets of our armed forces.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed Russia’s position. He added that trainers who train Ukrainian forces do not enjoy any form of immunity, regardless of their nationality.
International reactions
Recently Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Documents were signed allowing the presence of French trainers in training centers in Ukraine.
I welcome France’s initiative to send trainers to Ukraine to train Ukrainian soldiers. I have already signed the documents that will allow the first French trainers to visit our training centers and get acquainted with their infrastructure and personnel,” said the Supreme Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, General Oleksandr Sirsky.
French President Emmanuel Macron did not want to comment on these reports or on the words of Lavrov and Peskov. He, in turn, promised to present France’s position during the celebration of the 80th anniversary of D-Day, which is celebrated on June 6.
