Serge Bouchard, Anthropologist 1947-2021

Well known writer, anthropologist and animator Serge Bouchard passed away on May 11 at the age of 73. He struggled with peritonitis complications – inflammation of the peritoneum in the abdominal cavity – for a month or two.

John Comery, Judge 1932-2021

Judge John Gomery, known as the head of the Commission to Investigate the Sponsorship Corruption, died on May 18 at the age of 88.

Jacques Lacoursière, Historian 1932-2021

One of Quebec’s greatest storytellers, Jack Lagorsier died between May 31 and June 1 at the age of 89. The writer and historian had suffered from Alzheimer’s disease for many years.

Jean Rosen, politician 1938-2021

Former Quebec Minister Jean Rosen, especially the founder of the Tobacco Control Act and Hema-Quebec when he was health minister, died on October 18 at the age of 83.

Michel Nadeau, Journalist / Administrator 1947-2021

Journalist and executive who played a key role in Quebec Inc. died on October 19 at the age of 75 after battling cancer.

Pierre Reid, politician 1948-2021

Pierre Reid, a former education minister and Liberal MP for Orford for 15 years, died on November 14 at the age of 73.

Renee Martell, singer 1947-2021

Queen Renee Martel of Quebec passed away on December 18 at the age of 74, after a life of success and drama.

Gérard Poirier, actor 1930-2021

Gerard Fourier, best known for his performances in projects representing Quebec, “Les Plouffe”, “Le Parc des braves” and “Le Temps d’une Paix”, died on December 19 at the age of 91.

Jean-Marc Wally, Director 1963-2021

Quebec director Jean-Marc Wally died on December 26 at the age of 58. He was alone in the second house when he died, which sent shockwaves through Quebec and the screen.
