Netflix drama about a tragic disaster in the Andes
The crash of Flight 571 of Fuerza Aérea Uruguaya is one of the most terrible – and at the same time one of the most famous – aviation disasters, which claimed the lives of 29 people. Due to extreme weather conditions and pilot error, the plane carrying the rugby team and their family members crashed in the Andes. The survivors were forced to fight to survive in extremely difficult conditions, at extremely low temperatures, and without access to food.
These tragic events are the main theme of The Snow Brotherhood, which was released in festivals on September 9 to positive reviews from critics. Drama directed by J. A. Byun (he worked on, among others, The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power And Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) will be released on Netflix in early January and has the chance to become one of the most exciting productions on Red VOD.
The disaster itself was just the beginning of the harsh situations that the survivors of Fuerza Aérea Uruguaya 571 had to deal with. At an altitude of more than 3,600 meters above sea level, they faced not only extreme cold, but also avalanches, their own limitations and weather conditions. An increasing feeling of hopelessness. Only 16 of the 45 passengers and crew on board survived the disaster.
