The production budget was $115 million. However, the film did not receive outstanding viewership on Netflix. It also divided critics and viewers.

W 2010 Everything seems to be coming true. The director managed to attract real stars: Tom Hanks, Johnny Depp, Will Smith and Sean Penn.
Unfortunately, the project stalled and nothing was eventually achieved. J.C. Chandor accepted the director’s job in 2015, but didn’t get a real opportunity to direct the film until 2017. The original cast was supposed to include Tom Hardy, Channing Tatum, and Mahershala Ali.
However, Hardy and Tatum were quickly eliminated and their places were taken by Ben Affleck and his brother Casey.
Unfortunately, soon after Ben Affleck had a breakdown related to alcohol problems and the project almost collapsed. For a while, the idea of replacing him with Mark Wahlberg was floated, but in the end the creators decided to wait for Ben Affleck. Meanwhile, Casey Affleck and Mahershala Ali left the cast and were replaced by the actors we finally saw.
Will the sequel be painfully created? This is not yet known. Charlie Hunnam just revealed that he’s talking to Netflix about making a sequel, but there’s still a long way to go.
