US Box Office: ‘Alien’ Defeated! Deadpool and Wolverine Return to First Place
Late August is the time when students return to school and college, which means traffic at theaters slows. Distributors either skip the period altogether or release films that don’t have a place at another time. New releases usually sell poorly. This year was no different. The four biggest releases combined earned just a little more than their first release last weekend.

New releases sold poorly, but older titles held up. This is especially true of Marvel’s offerings. “Deadpool and Wolverine”. Its revenues dropped by only 39%. This allowed the film to regain its leading position that it lost last week. Current estimates give it $18.3 million, which translates to a total of $577.2 million. This means “Deadpool & Wolverine” has moved up to the 16th spot on the list of biggest box office hits of all time, surpassing “Super Mario Bros. The Movie.” ($574.9 million).

“Alien: Romulus” failed to maintain its leading position. The show recorded a very large loss (61%), which translated to $16.2 million. However, after 10 days of showing with revenues of $72.6 million, it is still the second highest-grossing part in the Alien series. It got a better result after 10 days “Prometheus” – $89.4 million.

The platform is complete with the biggest surprise this summer – “We’re done for”The controversy surrounding this film did not prevent it from grossing over $120 million.
