Giant waves hit the California coast for the third day in a row, causing destruction and flooding streets and buildings. Video from the city of Ventura shows the moment when the wave carries people and a parked car.
The storm has been brewing off the coast of California since Thursday. Powerful waves up to 12 meters high break into land very quickly. Streets were flooded and some buildings were damaged. Evacuation orders were issued in some towns. The services called for caution when traveling and to avoid flooded places.
Some beaches were closed. Warnings of rough waves were issued in areas extending from the Mexican border to San Francisco.

In Ventura on Friday, a huge wave broke through the breakwaters and hit the waterfront, where about 20 people admired the raging storm. The witness's recording shows that people started to run away in panic, but the wave carried some of them away, as well as a parked car. Some people were pushed up to 50 meters inland, and at least eight of them were taken to hospitals.
– This wave came out of nowhere. We saw it at a height of several metres. “I'm still trying to get over it,” said John Frizzell, who felt the force of the item firsthand.
“It's crazy,” said Stephanie Massan, who was surviving the huge wave with others. – When I was on the sidewalk, I felt it shaking. She added that it seemed unrealistic.
