Scientists from the Polish Academy of Sciences’ COVID-19 Advisory Group have invited “all those who previously demonstrated responsibility and took the COVID-19 vaccine” to take a third booster dose. Professor Krzysztof Berry wrote: “We are all left to ourselves. Let us believe the science and the facts.”
On Friday, Professor Krzysztof Berry of the Małopolska Center for Biotechnology at Jagiellonian University published an appeal by scientists from the Polish Academy of Sciences’ COVID-19 Advisory Group, of which he serves as its vice-chair.
“In the face of the fourth wave of COVID-19 cases in Poland, each of us is left to fend for ourselves. Let’s believe the science and the facts” – he pleaded.
Appeals to scientists: Let’s believe the science and the facts, let’s get vaccinated with a booster dose
Scientists are watching “with great concern” the rapidly increasing number of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 and the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19. “In some people the disease will end in death, and in others – permanent and significant respiratory failure in life, work and social activity. Already vaccinated people also suffer from the disease, but in their case the risk of serious health consequences is much lower ”- they recalled.
Also, their “grave concern” stemmed from “the lack of adequate response by the state authorities to the seriousness of the epidemiological situation.” They stated that “when faced with the fourth wave of COVID-19 cases in Poland, each of us was left to fend for ourselves.”
“In this case, we heartily appeal to all those who have previously demonstrated responsibility and accepted the COVID-19 vaccine to obtain a booster dose as quickly as possible,” they wrote.
“Studies in other countries show that full vaccination significantly reduces the risk of serious disease, but this protection wears off over time, and taking a booster dose will enhance the body’s ability to fight the virus.”
“Believe the science and the facts, let’s get vaccinated with a booster dose,” he pleaded with scientists.
Booster vaccination
From November 2 onwards Booster vaccination All adults can contact, provided that at least six months have passed since receiving the full vaccination. An electronic referral is automatically issued to them.
It is possible to vaccinate with a booster dose regardless of the preparation taken in the previous doses.
When is the peak of the fourth wave?
According to a spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Wojciech Andrusiewicz The fourth wave should reach its peak in late November/early December. – On the other hand, the hospitalization peak is always shifted by a week or two, so we will likely have it in mid-December – he added.
Andrusiewicz said that “if hospitalization exceeds 25,000, some scheduled procedures will likely be cancelled.” Currently, more than 12,000 people are lying on Covid beds in hospitals.
– At the moment, we don’t see a need to introduce additional restrictions, Andrusiewicz said, and this does not mean that we, as a society, will not impose additional restrictions on our behaviour. He pointed out that “today, there are three important indicators that govern our reality and our decision-making process: the number of injuries per 100,000 residents, the number of vaccinations in a specific area, and the number of beds in hospitals.”

Echo Richards embodies a personality that is a delightful contradiction: a humble musicaholic who never brags about her expansive knowledge of both classic and contemporary tunes. Infuriatingly modest, one would never know from a mere conversation how deeply entrenched she is in the world of music. This passion seamlessly translates into her problem-solving skills, with Echo often drawing inspiration from melodies and rhythms. A voracious reader, she dives deep into literature, using stories to influence her own hardcore writing. Her spirited advocacy for alcohol isn’t about mere indulgence, but about celebrating life’s poignant moments.
