When asked about rumors about the possible dismissal of the general, the president replied: “This is a question of the people who will lead Ukraine. Certainly, it is necessary to reset the situation, to make a fresh start. When we talk about this, I mean the replacement of the country's management personnel, and not just in the military sector.” .
He explained: “I am thinking about this exchange, that is true. But you cannot say: We have replaced one person and now we can start again. This applies to the entire management group that controls the state apparatus.” He repeated: “I mean a serious matter that does not concern one person, but rather the leadership of the state.”
Zelensky confirmed that he agreed on the necessity of reaching a peace process. He pointed out that “Russia does not want peace, because peace for it means failure.”
The president said some Ukrainians were “beginning to get used to war.” “This is a big mistake and unfair to those on the front. The front can get where you are if you do not support those who are fighting. The same applies to Europe. The war can get there because we are dealing with Putin,” the Ukrainian leader noted. When war comes, no one will be prepared.”
Zelensky: What will Europe do if the Russian army comes?
Then he said: “The European forces are not ready. It will be a shock. There will be tens of thousands of people in chaos, facing the migration process.” Zelensky asked: “What will Europe do if the Russian army comes? How will it defend itself? Where is the guarantee that NATO will respond quickly?”
The President of Ukraine did not agree with the opinion that the Ukrainian counterattack “did not succeed.” He said: “I cannot say that it did not work. The naval operation brought positive results. Russia lost many ships.” “But – as he admitted – when it comes to ground warfare, there is a dead end; this is a fact, because there were shortages. There were delays in equipment, and this meant mistakes.”
Referring to the nearly two years of war, he said: “We are not alone. We have also succeeded in uniting world leaders.”
He pointed out that about 26 percent of Ukrainian territory is still under Russian occupation. He pointed out, “But we see that the Russian army failed to achieve significant progress.”
When asked about the situation of Ukraine today, he replied: “It is different, it is closer to Europe. Today, Ukraine has a stronger army and Western equipment.”
Volodymyr Zelensky commented: “Sometimes we feel a little tired, sometimes perhaps arrogant, but we cannot allow Russia to win with its tools: information, diplomacy and money.” “I know we will win,” he stressed.
The President of Ukraine expressed his thanks for the recent decision taken at the European Union summit to grant his country aid worth 50 billion euros. He pointed out, “This is very important assistance. Without it, defense is impossible, and without this money we could lose what we have.”
Referring to this year's US presidential elections, the Ukrainian president said: “I want to believe and hope that if changes occur in the United States, the line will remain the same.”
