To make a mistake is a human thing. However, the fact that city bus drivers, who, it would seem, should know their routes inside out and routinely cover them, veer off the track is surprising. The more these events are not accidental – only on Thursday, February 23, entries appeared in our report reporting four cases of derailment.
You might think that city bus drivers should have their routes at their fingertips. And that it is impossible to confuse a road that has been traveled many times before.
But the entries that appear in succession in our report seem to contradict this.
Instead of riding, take a long walk in the mud
The scale is so great that readers asked us to explain the situation.
– Every now and then in the report there is information that the bus broke down or stopped somewhere. Just like today, when he was standing on the square in Usua, – wrote the lady in an e-mail to our editorial office Madeline. – Maybe it is better to train drivers or install navigation so that such errors do not happen? And so that people do not have to walk long distances across the field, in the mud, like on Thursday, to catch another bus.
The driver was wrong, but the readers showed kindness
The incident referred to by Lady Magdalena took place on Thursday morning. The driver of bus line 179, left Osowa PKP station in the direction of the Oliwa Tram Loop, confused the directions and instead of going to ul. Barniewicka, entered the ul. Letniskowa buried herself there. Since the car was – literally – grounded, the ZTM Emergency Technical Service had to come to the rescue. The bus driver asked the passengers to get off the bus because the vehicle was not able to continue.
Many of our readers called for understanding:
– You can just laugh, – someone wrote under the report. – the driver got distracted and wanted to turn and it happened. Everyone makes mistakes.

Sometimes buses get lost
However, on the same day we received information about several more similar cases. Among other things about the missing bus. Fortunately, only for a while.
Our report also included information about the driver of bus line 213, who went to Borków instead of Kowale and got lost, or about bus line 126, who was going in the opposite direction on the beltway because he missed the exits.
It is the driver’s responsibility to know the lane
GAiT explains that one of the driver’s duties is to know the route of each line and the location of all stations on that route.
– GAiT supports an average of 70 bus lines, making approximately 4,000 trips per day – informs Krzysztof Wojtkiewicz from GAIT. – The causes of the displayed events may be simple human error or outdated knowledge about the current route of the route or stop location. Frequent changes in routes result from the dynamics of the city’s functioning – the need to adapt the transport offer to changing needs. Of course, neither of these cases justifies the occurrence of such situations.
The driver will receive information about the route from the computer
A GAiT representative stresses that the number of these events relative to the number of tournaments being run is minimal, but that the company’s goal is to eliminate them entirely. how?
– We are testing the additional functions of the on-board computer – explains Krzysztof Wojtkiewicz. – In addition to the currently used indication of the departure time from the next station (watch Punctuality) The driver will receive information about the route of the next section of the route and the location of the nearest stop.
GAiT apologizes to the passengers
Regarding the cases presented in readers’ reports, GAiT states:
- The vehicle operation recording system, including, among other things, the location of the vehicle according to GPS coordinates does not confirm violations on line 213,
- Line 126 is operated by BP Tour, so we cannot comment on this situation,
– The events on line 179 and 115 were clearly the drivers’ fault, and we sincerely apologize – says Krzysztof Wojtkiewicz from GAiT.
And are there any consequences for drivers who confuse the roads?
– Depending on the circumstances of the accident and the degree of misconduct of the driver, additional instructions are provided or disciplinary sanctions are applied – inform the GAiT representative.
Echo Richards embodies a personality that is a delightful contradiction: a humble musicaholic who never brags about her expansive knowledge of both classic and contemporary tunes. Infuriatingly modest, one would never know from a mere conversation how deeply entrenched she is in the world of music. This passion seamlessly translates into her problem-solving skills, with Echo often drawing inspiration from melodies and rhythms. A voracious reader, she dives deep into literature, using stories to influence her own hardcore writing. Her spirited advocacy for alcohol isn’t about mere indulgence, but about celebrating life’s poignant moments.
