The provisions on widows’ pensions have been approved and signed by the President. They will enter into force in the country on January 1, 2025, and the first benefits will be paid in July 2025.
Who benefits from widow’s pension?
The right to a widow’s pension will be available to people whose spouse died five years before they reached retirement age. That is, women aged 55 or over or men aged 60 or over.
However, the widow’s pension is not paid for life. If the person receiving the benefit marries again, payments will stop on the day before the wedding day.
survivor pension
Another benefit that relatives of a deceased person are entitled to is a survivor’s pension. It is available to specific family members of a person who, at the time of death, had an established right to an old-age or disability pension due to inability to work, or met the conditions required for receiving one of these benefits – according to an INFOR report.
The benefit may be paid to his children, the children of the other spouse or adopted children, minor grandchildren, siblings and other children accepted for upbringing and maintenance (except for children accepted for upbringing in foster families or a family orphanage), as well as the spouse and parents of the deceased.
In order for a widow to receive a survivor’s pension, she must be 50 years old or unable to work at the time of her husband’s death. You can also receive the benefit if you are raising at least one of your children, grandchildren or siblings who are entitled to a pension. This applies to children up to the age of 16 or up to the age of 18 if they are still in education. A widow will also receive the amount if she is looking after a child who is completely unable to work or live independently.
Does the length of marriage affect the benefits?
The new regulations do not address the issue of the effect of the duration of marriage on the widow’s pension. This leads to the conclusion that it will not affect the right to receive the benefit or its amount.
The same applies to survivor benefits. The law does not mention the effect of the duration of the marriage on the granting of a marriage license.
Echo Richards embodies a personality that is a delightful contradiction: a humble musicaholic who never brags about her expansive knowledge of both classic and contemporary tunes. Infuriatingly modest, one would never know from a mere conversation how deeply entrenched she is in the world of music. This passion seamlessly translates into her problem-solving skills, with Echo often drawing inspiration from melodies and rhythms. A voracious reader, she dives deep into literature, using stories to influence her own hardcore writing. Her spirited advocacy for alcohol isn’t about mere indulgence, but about celebrating life’s poignant moments.
