William Friedkin, director of ‘The Exorcist’, will be shooting for the new ‘Rebellion on the Ship’ movie
Have you recently wondered if we’ll be seeing any new William Friedkin movie? Eleven years since his last movie “Killer Joe” with Matthew McConaughey, the director of “The Exorcist” has finally found a project he wants to shoot. It would be a quote from Hermann Walke’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book, “The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial,” known in Poland as “Mutiny on the Ship.” The star of the movie is Kiefer Sutherland.

William Friedkin – What will his new movie be about?

So far, Walk’s original novel, Mutiny on the Ship, has been reproduced twice. For the first time in 1954 under the title “Mutiny on the Ship” with Humphrey Bogart in the title role and in 1988 under the same title by Robert Altman.

The plot takes place during World War II and tells the story of a lawsuit against a US Navy officer that leads to a mutiny on the ship and he takes command after the captain exhibits instability, endangering the entire crew.

The case was originally related to the situation relating to American Pearl Harbor. Friedkin revealed that he modernized the procedure by moving it to the Strait of Hormuz in the Arabian Sea and placing it in the context of the war in Iraq. According to Friedkin, “Mutiny on the Ship” is one of the best war dramas ever written, and it’s also a universal story fit for our time.

Kiefer Sutherland will play rebellious Lieutenant Philip Koig in the latest version of Mutiny on the Ship.

In an interview, Friedkin spared no words of appreciation for Sutherland.
I think he’s one of the best actors in the world, definitely one of the best. I watched every episode of “24 Hours”. He was wonderful. But I think he can do more. This is just an opportunity.
