WWE SmackDown August 25 Results

On this August 25, 2023 episode of SmackDown, WWE pays tribute to Bray Wyatt and Terry Funk, who passed away this week.

The SmackDown tables were rocked

The episode opens with the first tribute of the evening to Bray Wyatt and Terry Funk. Their photos are shown on the big screen as ten bells ring in the arena. Erick Rowan is with Braun Strowman. A video clip tracing Bray Wyatt’s career was later released.

Then the audience sang “He hath the whole world in his hand” When the camera focuses on a rocking chair, it’s definitely empty.

There’s more action this Friday evening, with scheduled matches starting with Rey Mysterio and Grayson Waller on the episode.

Rey Mysterio sings Grayson Waller A 619 with a pinfall and a Drop the Time. Austin Theory tried to distract Rey Mysterio with his entrance, but Santos Escobar came out to tackle Theory.

A rematch between Austin Theory and Rey Mysterio has been officially announced for WWE Payback 2023 next week.

Several video clips will air this Friday evening in tribute to Bray Wyatt, starting with the birth of the Wyatt family.

In an interview before the next match, Bayley fully supports IYO SKY and declared that its era is not going to change.

Alas Skye is a ten Jelena Vega Pinfall with a moonsault to retain his title.

Cody Rhodes pays tribute to Terry Funk

Cody Rhodes is in the ring to evoke the memory of Terry Funk, who died Wednesday. In particular, he remembers calling his father an “egg-sucking dog” when he was 11 (if you can say that on television).

He did not fail to pay tribute to Bray Wyatt at the same time, explaining that if everyone was called superstars once they crossed the ring, people would call them wrestlers, competitors or even athletes. But there are two guys you can pretty well call cowboys: Terry Funk and Bray Wyatt.

He knew he was lucky enough to know wrestler Terry Funk. It inspires a wrestler who has changed a lot and has been able to support not only talent, but the entire promotion.

After a video clip on Terry Funk, Cody Rhodes announced that the following tag team match would be tonight as a tribute. Terry Funk Hardcore Competition.

Street Profits beat the Brawling Brutes by pinfall after knocking Butch out with their reveal through a table.

LA Knight walks into the ring to face him, Bray Wyatt’s last opponent, his first boy, Finn Balor. Other tribute videos are being aired, especially the one back from last October.

John Cena’s return to SmackDown next week is also discussed. The purpose of his return is still unclear.

Bray Wyatt’s last challenger

LA Knight is in the ring for a pre-match promo against Finn Baller. Even though he is his enemy, he inspires Bray Wyatt as his savior to help him, to prepare him for everything. He says he can’t wait to see Bray Wyatt’s family movie tonight. He’s sure Bray Wyatt’s spirit will be there tonight to pay tribute with everyone here.

He then addresses his rival Miz, telling him to specifically use the words of Bray Wyatt: “Next time you see me, run!” »

LA Night Finn won over many Falling with his BFT.

All lights will be turned off after the match is over. A photo of Bray Wyatt from behind is shown on a giant screen while a lamp is placed in the center of the ring. The audience lit up with thousands of white fireflies as they chanted “Thank You Pray” to end this special episode.
