Z 229-15 is something you won’t understand no matter how long you think. Astronomers gave up

Z 229-15, because this cosmic plane we’re talking about, is about 390 million light-years from Earth. Scientists have already recognized this object as one of the active galaxies, a quasar, and even a Seyfert galaxy. However, the new answers regarding the actual identity of Z 229-15 are somewhat confusing.

Scientists are not able to allocate this object to one class. This is due to the fact that it can be adapted to several at the same time and will not contradict accepted rules. Why are we talking about three things at once in this case? The key to solving the mystery lies in black holes and their activity.

When these powerful gravitational monsters consume matter, it gets heated up. This is due to friction, which generates huge amounts of energy. Under these conditions, we can talk about the existence of an active galaxy. Z 229-15 fulfills this requirement because a relatively high brightness can be seen at its center.

However, if we take into account that sufficiently bright sources are considered quasars (the condition is that they are much brighter than the rest of the galaxy), then we are talking about a quasar. These are usually distant and point-like. On the other hand, Z 9229-15 is relatively close to Earth. So the puzzle is partially appropriate, but not entirely.

The classification of Z 229-15 is difficult because this organism fits three different definitions

If you think that the game of writing down exactly what scientists deal with is over, you are unfortunately wrong. The list of candidates also includes the Seyfert galaxy. The core of this galaxy should be relatively bright, preserving a view of the entire galaxy. What about Z 9229-15? Astronomers have discovered the fringes of the galaxy with its bright spiral arms.

So we are talking about an object that fits three definitions at the same time. If you were to ask about Z 9229-15 during the test, you would have to deal with the multiple choice task. It is, after all, not only a quasar, but also an active galaxy and a Sievert galaxy. Or maybe all of these things at once, or really none of them? One gets the impression that Z 9229-15 has surprisingly much in common with the film, which won seven Oscars. Everything is everywhere at once.
